As of January 1, 2025, Chiquita Canyon Landfill is closed for the acceptance of waste. Chiquita Canyon, LLC will continue to manage the landfill, including addressing the elevated temperature landfill event that is affecting the northwest corner of the landfill, as well as closure and post-closure activities. While active waste disposal operations have closed, we remain committed to working with federal, state and local regulators on the ongoing reaction mitigation efforts.
UPDATE: As a result of the Hughes Fire, Chiquita Canyon Landfill evacuated all personnel from the facility yesterday (January 22). As of 3:00 am pacific this morning (January 23), Chiquita personnel were able to return to the site.
